How to potentially integrate Non-Combatant Recognition Structures into a formal ranking system while leaving the existing mess that is traditional Dagorhir Knighthood effectively intact- Cy's limited take on it: Ideally, we'd need to unify under multiple Skills Guilds, but this would keep the management of them under skills councils instead of under the greater control of Dagorhir itself or of individual units/chapters/etc. By the very nature of such a thing, the recognition could/should stand to be more valuable than that of any individual unit-appointed Knight.

It's truly just, like, my opinion, man. Let's shake it out and see where we land!
Kensmen Squire Valkyrie posted the following to the FB discussion space regarding this topic:
I saw on a thread that quite a few are hoping for something around an arts and sciences knighthood! I’m currently squired under John Grimmwolf Hollingsworth to try and make that happen! We are currently putting together the building blocks but we have a long road to go. I have talked with knights near and far and I understand this to be a controversial subject. So far we have agreed that an Arts and Sciences knight should:
-Be exceedingly good in one major craft -proficient in three other crafts -have a basic knowledge of weapons builds -understand all dag rules -be able to check weapons -be able to herald -have a full trial, not fighting, but where they bring a full portfolio of their work and sit with it all day being allowed to be questioned about their proficiencies or dag Knowledge by anyone who comes up.
This is kind of an update. I really appreciate everyone (especially knights) who have kept an open dialogue with me and given me feedback to improve! If you have questions or would like some input. Feel free to message me or my knight! Or comment below!

I like what Sarah Valkyrie Lemay is doing with A&S. I am aware that the title is controversial so if that is something you want to comment on, I encourage you to go to that thread. I’d like this thread to be about the categories. What categories should get a peerage?
I’ll start it off with:
Blacksmithing
Foamsmithing
Armorers
Your turn:
I, Cy, responded with:
1- Fiber Arts (Kate Campbell is spot on, also Jossette Dinsmore and Lauren Phoenix Partlow) ***Sub-categories include Garb, Boots, etc. 2- Bardic (Chris Kiana Agarnajad) 3- Engineering (includes common weapons building, structural work, siege weaponry, and artisan-level foam pursuits Ethan C. Rath) 4- Leadership (Scott Floodstrom, Coleby Shute) **Sub-category Volunteership 5- Historian (Including Illumination/Calligraphy Jossette Dinsmore) 6- Alchemy (Cooking/Brewing/Chemistral Arts Brak Young) 7- Medical (I need a lot of help with this one) 8- Blacksmithing & Armoring (Blackhawk Dagorhir) 9- ????? *I* think each of these should begin with a core group of 3-5 Community-recognized Masters who we, as a community, can generally agree upon to take the help and guide each toward their own rules for their new Guilds. These Guilds would then establish their own methods for recognition and paths within themselves, being that they are the recognized experts in their chosen fields.
